Description:
Seiji Ozawa's 2010 live recording of "Bluebeard" is finally unveiled! This is the first live recording of Bartok's "Bluebeard's Castle" by Seiji Ozawa, which was scheduled to be released in 2011 but was cancelled due to various reasons. This valuable recording of the performance, in which Seiji Ozawa conducted only two performances out of the four scheduled, has finally been released! Except for the opening speech, the entire story of "Bluebeard's Castle" revolves around only Prince Bluebeard and his wife Judith. The first half of the story is about Lord Bluebeard's cruelty, the middle part is about his wealth, and the last part is about the secrets of Lord Bluebeard's former wives. The baritone Gerne and soprano Zitkova beautifully portrayed the difficult psychological aspects of the story, and the delicate and varied tone of the Saito Kinen Orchestra, conducted by Seiji Ozawa, expressed the unique atmosphere of the work.Recorded live at Matsumoto Civic Art Center, August 2011 [Performed by] Bluebeard: Matthias Goerne (baritone), Judith: Elena Zitkova (mezzo-soprano), Saito Kinen Orchestra, Conductor: Seiji Ozawa
