About the Photoshoot

Capturing "Diamond Rush" was an exhilarating and transformative experience, blending the dynamic beauty of icebergs with the power of the sea. The journey began on a winter's day at Iceland’s Diamond Beach, where I ventured as close to the shore as safely possible, armed with my camera and bracing against the biting cold. The beach, known for its sparkling icebergs, transforms in winter into a surreal landscape where the contrast between the dark volcanic sands and the luminous ice creates a mesmerizing scene.

With the waves crashing against the icebergs, I aimed to capture this stark beauty through a long exposure technique. The swirling motion of the waves around the jagged icebergs created ethereal white lines, leading the viewer's eye across the black sands and into the vast, tumultuous ocean. I sought out a spot where the icebergs varied in shade, some a piercing blue and others an ash black, yet all similar in their intricate shapes.

Just as I began to frame my composition, an unexpected change in the weather added a dramatic twist to the scene. The dark canopy of clouds began to part, and an ethereal column of magnificent orange light poured from above, fanning out with bright fingers and defining the horizon. My priorities evolved with the changing conditions, and I quickly adapted to capture this fleeting moment of beauty. Instead of portraying the stark and ominous winter landscape I had initially envisioned, the image transformed into one of hope and promise, highlighting the interplay of light and dark, life and stillness.
