Dig Dug (1982) makes you the courageous digger, excavating tunnel holes through subterranean labyrinths to vanquish tunnel-monsters. Using a joystick and "pump" switch, you'll blow up Pookas and Fygars or intentionally drop rocks down on them to kill them. Eliminating each screen takes you to further, faster levels with bonus vegetables and increasing difficulty.

The vertical cabinet sports colorful side artwork: Dig Dug clutching his pump amidst cartoonish red-and-yellow monsters on a soil-brown background. The canted control panel accommodates a rugged eight-way joystick and a giant, red "Pump" button with pressure-gauge decals. Above the 19″ CRT, a backlit marquee displays "DIG DUG" in bold, rounded letters, and a mono speaker crackles with jaunty, underground audio sound effects.
