The original version of this enchanting representation of Goddess Shakti(also known as Parvati and Uma Maheshwari among many other names) dates back to the early 11th century when the Chola dynasty ruled most parts of south India and several parts of south-east asia. The Cholas were known for their patronage of the arts and architecture.
This particular sculpture of Uma Maheshwari is popular for it's elegant depiction of the triple-bend pose (tribhanga) where the head and the lower body slant in one direction while the torso moves in the opposite direction. Her right arm is positioned to hold a flower while her her left hand performs a graceful dance gesture.
An embodiment of ethereal beauty and divine grace - the tribhanga pose finds place in both architecture and traditional dance forms like the Odissi and Bharatanatyam.
Our artisan partners have worked their magic to recreate the Tribhanga Parvati in brass, finished to a high level of detail. Make this elegant piece a part of your home decor and this will surely be the centre of conversation when you have guests around.
