Picture frame with perfectly preserved Mammoth hair remains found in permafrost. A fascinating glimpse into the prehistoric world. These hair strands, preserved for thousands of years in frozen ground, offer a remarkable level of detail and texture.
The hair is often a reddish-brown or dark brown hue, though lighter shades, such as blond, have also been found. The color may vary based on the region where the mammoth lived and how well the hair was preserved.
Mammoth hair is typically coarse, thick, and wiry, providing insulation in the cold Ice Age environment. It ranges from fine underfur to long, shaggy outer hair that could grow several feet in length.
Thanks to the permafrost, many hair remains are remarkably well-preserved, retaining their natural structure, though some may appear brittle or matted due to age and environmental conditions.
These remains were uncovered in Siberia, where permafrost layers protect them from decay. For reference a picture made under miscroscope can be seen in the pictures.
