Kazak rugs are influenced by Caucasian designs found in antique rugs from the USSR region, as well as those found in rugs from the northern parts of the Persian empire.

Typically, geometric in pattern Kazaks tend to be red, yellow, or gold and blue. Designs may include wildlife, flowers, and medallions similar to tribal rugs but are typically implemented with straight lines. The borders are heavily decorated featuring several variations of the latch-hook pattern and a reciprocal saw-tooth pattern often seen in Caucasian designs.
