Aldo Ciccolini (Piano)
Description:
Aldo Ciccolini, a free man of the piano! ELECTRECORD Complete Recordings!Aldo Ciccolini, the free man of the piano, who visited Japan in June 2014 and was heard in good spirits, has passed away suddenly. Although born in Naples, Italy, he studied at the Paris Conservatory, became a naturalized French citizen, and died a French pianist. His repertoire was wide-ranging and of the highest standard, ranging from the serious to the joyous, and even in his old age he continued to deepen his art and to work energetically. This time, we are releasing them all on CD. These recordings are from the 1960s, a time when he was at the height of his technical and intellectual prowess. The fact that many of the works are Debussy's favorites is also very welcome. The live performance of the "Preludes Volume I" is a masterpiece, as only Ciccolini could have done, full of sense and inspiration. Frank's Preludes, Chorales and Fugues are also unique in their impressionistic clarity rather than gloominess. Scarlatti, a native of Naples and a frequent favorite of Ciccolini's, is also performed with great brilliance. This is a must-have masterpiece.
