Description:
This is the third album by Haruma Sato, a 24-year-old up-and-coming cellist who in 2019 became the first Japanese to win the cello division of the Munich International Music Competition, which boasts a long tradition and authority. The album "On the Wings of Song - Mendelssohn's Works" features Mendelssohn's works, which will be featured in this year's recital as well as last year. The works range from rarely performed sonatas to concerto variations with beautiful melodies, Mendelssohn's most famous song, "On the Wings of Song," and a cello version of "Mute Song" for solo piano. The contents offer a glimpse into various aspects and charms of Mendelssohn. The recording took place over three days at the Chichibu Muse Park Music Hall in Saitama Prefecture. The performance with pianist Wataru Hisasue is also a highlight of the album. About this third album, Haruma Sato said, "The pieces are very simple and clear-cut, but each sound seems to contain emotions from the heart. Sometimes he is excited by joy, and sometimes he is conflicted by his own origins. Please come and listen to Mendelssohn's works with perfect stylistic beauty, accompanied by Wataru Hisasue's wonderful piano! He also commented, "I am sure you will enjoy this concert. Universal Music
