Painstakingly assembled by wrapping two heated metal bands around a wooden core, the strap holds comfortably firm on the wearer, almost like an armored second skin. The process to create Tubogas not only requires the slowest and steadiest of hands, but also complete control of the temperature of the metal at all times. And since different metals begin to soften at different temperatures, that makes this piece from the 1990s an exceptional labor of love. The bracelet incorporates three different types of 18-karat gold— white, yellow, and rose — to form a gorgeous tricolor medley. The yellow gold bezel features the brand’s famous “Bvlgari-Bvlgari” design circling the dial in a sort of quasi-Cyrillic script, making for a timepiece that simultaneously leaves an impression of modern high fashion and Old-World mystique.
