Since assuming the position of Music Director in 2018, Otaka and the Osaka Philharmonic have given numerous masterful performances. The live CDs of "Bruckner Symphony No. 8" for the inaugural performance and "Mahler Symphony No. 9" to open the second year of the season were highly acclaimed for their rare performances that combine exquisite expression and bold sound. Although Odaka has been devoted to Bruckner since his youth, he had not had the opportunity to perform "No. 3" because he could not decide which version to choose. However, he decided to give three performances in January 2020, saying, "Now that I have come to the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra, which is associated with Professor Takashi Asahina, I should start playing No. 3 here. For the orchestra, this will be the first performance of "No. 3" since the 2002 Asahina memorial concert. Since his illness the previous year, which led him to deepen his contemplation, Odaka's conducting has brought the orchestra closer to an unexplored territory. The Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra responded to his naturalistic guidance with a performance that was instantly recognizable as an ideal Bruckner performance. FONTEC
