Manfred Honeck
Description:
Horneck's Mahler: Symphony No. 3! It's finally here! Here comes the newest addition to the Mahler cycle of Honeck and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Symphony No. 3. No. 1 "Titan" won the Mahler Society's Award of Excellence in Vienna, and received a high praise from Mr. Hidekazu Yoshida in Japan as well. The next piece, "No. 4," also showed rich dynamics and expression, and is still fresh in our memories. In No. 3, the major climax of the cycle, the audience can expect to hear even higher orchestral technique and Horneck's meticulous attention to detail in the music. The mezzo-soprano is Michel de Young, who is well-known for his work with Benard Haitink & Chicago Symphony, Tilson Thomas & San Francisco Symphony, and Pierre Boulez & Berlin Philharmonic. Principal trumpet player G. Vosberg plays an active role throughout the entire work, including the post horn in the third movement. The performance is based on the teachings of the legendary trumpet player A. Herseth, formerly of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. The outstanding ensemble of strings and the powerful brass in the tutti boast a level of precision that is unmatched by any orchestra in the North American region today.Enjoy the 80 minutes of what you're about to hear!
