Description:
Born in Vienna in 1930, Friedrich Gulda won the Geneva International Competition at the age of 16, and his talent as a classical pianist was recognized early on, earning him the nickname "Vienna's Three Crows" along with Jörg Demus and Paul Padula-Skoda. Goulda was also active as a jazz pianist and composer, and his unconventional and free musicality can be heard in the Mozart piano concerto on this disc. Abbado and the Vienna Philharmonic responded sensitively to Goulda's playing, and the performance was not a scheduled harmony, but an elongated one. Universal Music
