Description:

New recording by Tomohiro Adachi, a much talked-about pianist who devotes his life to Croatian music! A collection of works by Dora Pejacevic (1885-1923), a Croatian woman composer who colored the turn of the century. Pejacevic had a short life of only 37.5 years due to a combination of illnesses, including kidney failure following a difficult childbirth and septicemia, but she was a brilliant composer whose works numbered 58 and 106 in total, covering almost every genre except opera. After her death, her works were relegated to oblivion, but on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of her birth (1985), they were reappraised, and after Croatia gained independence in 1991, the National Croatian Music Information Center in Zagreb has been working to publish newly proofread scores of all her works. Nevertheless, there are almost no recordings of his music, and he remains a little-known composer, especially in Japan.Tomohiro Adachi, a Japanese pianist born in 1983, fell in love with this composer. Adachi studied in Croatia because his former teacher, Russian Evgeny Zarafianz, was involved in music education in Croatia. It was not until he graduated from the Academy of Music at the National University of Zagreb that he encountered and became fascinated by Pejacevic and other unknown composers. In 2013, the 90th anniversary of his death, he was the first Japanese performer invited to give a recital at a commemorative event organized by the Dora Pejacevic Memorial Foundation. Tomohiro Adachi's performance succeeded in expressing the unique flavor of Dora's music in a rich and intense way. I and the members of the orchestra shared his passionate approach and were fascinated by Dora's music. said Yoshiyoshi Inoue, the conductor of the orchestra. He sings Pejacevic's works with great skill, and behind the beautiful melodies, one can feel a very strong will.<Tomohiro Adachi, piano, graduated from the Ino Mirkovic Higher School of Music (affiliated with the Moscow Conservatory), and then from the Music Academy of the University of Zagreb, Croatia, with the highest honors. He has won prizes in eight international competitions throughout Europe, including the International Piano Competition in Rome, the Brahms International Music Competition, and the Anton Rubinstein International Piano Competition. She has been active in the discovery and study of works by Croatian composers and their popularization through concerts, recordings, TV and radio appearances, and writing articles, etc. She has performed abroad the works of Dora Pejacevic, the first female Croatian composer, Božidar Kunc, a modern composer, former president Ivo Josipović, as well as many modern and Romantic composers, and many modern composers. The orchestra has premiered many works by contemporary composers as well as Romantic and Modern composers.Since being the first Japanese invited by the Memorial Foundation in Pejacevic's hometown of Nasice, Croatia, in 2013, Adachi has been invited to every commemorative performance to mark the 90th anniversary of Pejacevic's death, the 110th anniversary of his birth, and the 30th anniversary of the founding of his music school. He also performed the Slavonian premiere of Pejacevic's piano concerto at the Croatian National Osijek Opera in March 2016. King International
