Known for its remarkable trichroism, it displays vibrant blue, violet, or burgundy hues depending on the viewing angle and lighting. Fine Tanzanite's color can shift from a rich blue in daylight to a striking purple indoors. The stones’ unique color play, combined with their limited source - Merelani Hills of Tanzania - makes it highly prized. With a hardness of 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale, it requires gentle care. Tanzanite's intense color and rarity have quickly elevated it to a sought-after gem in the world of fine jewelry. At least 90% of mined Tanzanite is estimated to be heat-treated to enhance its color, widely accepted as a standard practice, and rarely, stones can achieve stunning color through natural heating.
