Originally formed to provide film scores for sci-fi and horror movies, Wall of Voodoo shot to fame in 1983 with their hit single “Mexican Radio” and its accompanying video. But earlier in 1980, they produced this critically acclaimed WALL OF VOODOO six-track mini album, and now, for the first time on vinyl, WALL OF VOODOO LIVE.

Comprised of the haunted vocals and wise beyond his years’ lyrics of Stan Ridgway, Marc Moreland (formerly of The Skulls) and his brother Bruce (The Weirdos), Joe Nanini (the Bags, The Eyes, and Black Randy and the Metrosquad), and Chas T. Gray. And all the while, a drum machine chopped and spit out some of the strangest rhythms this side of the hip-hop records coming from Rick Rubin’s bedroom in NYC.

But maybe the one that put them on the map was their iconic cover of Johnny Cash’s ‘Ring Of Fire’ by far the best cover of that song if not one of the best covers of all time.

The WALL OF VOODOO EP features the original 1980 artwork, a large 24” x 24” poster, a Lyric Insert, and pressed Colored Vinyl. All remastered by Jim Hill - The Original 1980 Studio Engineer.

WALL OF VOODOO LIVE is a rare live document, available for the first time on vinyl. It shows the band so wired up and finely tuned that they could sonically hypnotize and lay waste to a live audience.

Recorded Live on 11/22/1979 at the Barn, University of California, Riverside, this full-length is one of the best-recorded performance documentations of the entire L.A. post-punk scene. Mastered by the original live recording engineer Jim Hill, you can hear every guitar scrape, ring of Nanini’s triangle, pots & pans, the punch in the gut of THAT drum machine, and Ridgway’s disbelief and glare into the audience.

This live show also showcased two exclusive compositions ‘End Of An Era’ & ‘Invisible Man’ that have not appeared on any other record.
