Ron and Valerie Taylor, pioneering Australian divers, revolutionised underwater filmmaking by capturing sharks in their natural habitat without cages and filming at night. In 1966, they spent six months documenting the Great Barrier Reef for the first scientific educational project there. Their work, including over 20 documentaries like Shadow over the Reef, helped protect marine environments such as Ningaloo Marine Park. Valerie notably was the first to test the chain mail shark suit, highlighting their fearless dedication to ocean conservation.
