Driftwood, paper mache, mixed media, 17" tall, 12" at the widest

Ulla's Northern Witch was mainly dictated by the shape of the pieces of driftwood she used to create her, using paper mache 'seams'. When Ulla embroidered the cape, she used a combination of suitable Viking runes and modified symbols from shamans' drums as ornamentation. Lapland (Sami) shamans, whom the southerners called witches, were feared (as well as misunderstood) figures in the southern parts of Finland and other Scandinavian countries. She has found quite an interesting spell against such witches; she'll translate it for the show.
