Getting Started Guide

1. Unbox Carefully
   • Remove the projector, power supply, remote control, and accessories from the packaging.
   • Keep all protective materials until installation is complete.
2. Choose the Right Location
   • Place the projector on a stable surface or mount it securely.
   • The short-throw lens allows large images from close distances, making it ideal for smaller rooms and golf simulator bays.
3. Connect Power
   • Plug the external power supply into the projector and connect it to a wall outlet.
4. Connect Your Devices
   • Use the dual HDMI ports to connect a gaming console, media player, laptop, PC, or simulator system.
   • You may also use the audio output or USB-A power port for accessories.
5. Set Projection Size
   • Position the projector to achieve the desired screen size.
   • Use horizontal and vertical keystone correction to fine-tune the image.
6. Select Picture Mode
   • Choose from preset modes such as Cinema, Bright, Game Mode, or Golf Simulation Picture Mode for the best image quality.
7. Start Enjoying
   • Turn on the projector using the remote or control panel and enjoy bright, sharp 4K UHD projection.

1. Placement

• For a 100" image, position the projector just over 1 meter from the screen.
• Align the lens to the center of the screen for best performance.
• Keep ventilation areas unobstructed.

2. Mounting Options

• Tabletop setup: Place the projector on a level surface.
• Ceiling mount: Use a compatible projector mount and confirm correct orientation.
• Golf simulator enclosure: Position the projector slightly above or below center with the correct throw distance.

3. Power Connection

• Connect the external power supply to the projector.
• Plug into a grounded power source.
• Avoid using extension cables when possible.

4. Video Source Setup

• Connect HDMI cables firmly into the HDMI 2.0 ports.
• Compatible with consoles, PCs, streaming devices, and simulation systems.
• Select the correct input using the remote.

5. Image Alignment

• Use keystone correction to fix image distortion.
• Adjust focus until the image is sharp across the screen.
• For golf simulator setups, enable Golf Simulation Picture Mode.

6. Audio Setup

• Use the built-in 15W speaker or connect external speakers through the 3.5 mm audio output.
• For wireless setups, pair with compatible wireless audio systems.

7. Final Checks

• Confirm the projector has adequate airflow.
• Make sure no direct sunlight is hitting the projection surface.

Smart Fit Firmware Update Available

The Optoma UHZ35ST now supports Optoma’s new Smart Fit / Custom Screen Type firmware feature, giving users more flexibility when setting up the projector with custom screen sizes, golf simulator impact screens, and non-standard display layouts.

This firmware update adds Optoma’s Custom Screen Type function, which allows you to add a custom resolution to the projector’s EDID table. By doing this, the projector can better communicate the intended screen format to your connected source device, making it easier to fill non-standard impact screens and achieve a cleaner image fit.

• Better fit for simulator screens: Helps fill custom impact screens more effectively, especially when the screen does not match a standard 16:9 shape.
• Custom resolution support: Adds a custom resolution to the projector’s EDID table for improved source-to-projector communication.
• Cleaner image geometry: Helps reduce distortion caused by forcing a standard resolution onto a non-standard screen.
• More usable screen coverage: Helps maximize the projected image area across your impact screen.
• Improved pixel efficiency: Helps maintain sharper image quality by using the available pixels more effectively.

Firmware update requirements: A USB-A to USB-A cable and a Windows PC are required to complete the update.
