Common name: Globe Cherry
Description: This distinctive ornamental cherry is renowned for its perfectly spherical, compact crown that creates an elegant architectural form in the landscape. The small, dark green leaves emerge in spring alongside abundant clusters of delicate white single flowers in April, creating a spectacular display before full leaf emergence. The foliage provides seasonal interest, transforming from fresh green through to bronze-red and orange-yellow tones in autumn. The attractive bark matures from grey to dark reddish-brown, whilst young twigs display a pleasing silver-grey colour. This low-maintenance tree produces small, round red cherries following the spring bloom, though these are primarily ornamental rather than edible.
Other benefits: exceptional architectural form with perfect spherical crown, low maintenance requirements, suitable for urban environments and smaller spaces
