The standard speed model booster pump has a maximum suction capacity of 10 vertical feet at sea level. Subtract 1 foot for every 1,000 feet of altitude. For example: If your altitude is 4,000 feet, the total suction capacity of the pump will be 6 feet. The suction capacity may be further limited due to intake pipe friction. The intake piping should be 1" or larger and the pump should be mounted as close to the water source as possible.
