Common name: Klosterkötter Dwarf Mountain Pine
Description: This exceptional dwarf cultivar of the mountain pine forms a dense, compact, cushion-like mound of dark green foliage. 'Klosterkötter' is characterised by its extremely slow growth rate and highly compact habit, developing into a nearly perfect hemisphere without requiring pruning. The needles are short, stiff and rich green, arranged in pairs and densely packed along the branches. In spring, attractive light-coloured "candles" appear as the new growth emerges, creating a striking contrast against the mature foliage. Over time, this miniature conifer develops a mature, aged appearance that belies its small stature, making it perfect for rock gardens, troughs, railway gardens, and other settings where a diminutive evergreen specimen is desired.
